mwb1 book tour in miami 4

The dedicated library staffMy recent book tour in Miami – dubbed “the attack of the ben clones” – was a hoot. There were four events over five days, as part of the Author Series hosted by the Miami Dade Public Library System and Earthdog Press.

While we got rained out at Coconut Grove, the highlight was at the California Club (near Hallandale Beach) branch, where 30 people attended. The delightful and dedicated branch manager, Pablo Lopez, kindly opined: “[Ben] is a great guy with a cool, laid back demeanor and keen, perceptive intellect. The way he engaged and captivated our patrons was a sight to behold. He received unanimous rave reviews.” The feeling is mutual Pablo!

Interestingly, the branches from less wealthy neighborhoods, where libraries in this digital age are becoming more like community centers, were the most engaging. [photos kindness of Pablo Lopez]
