mission ica 2

Maria and FernandaI recently returned from a mission trip with my Miami Beach church to Peru, my second to the country.  Thanks to so many for your prayers and generous support!  We flew into Lima and then took a 4 hour bus south to Ica, along the Pacific coast.  What a beautiful, and arid, part of the country!  Every time I visit Peru, I like the country more and more.

Our mission, specifically, was to support a church plant from Lima, encouraging not only Pastor Jimmy, but his flock.  We hosted a dinner for the small congregation, had a movie night, supported the weekly bible study and services, street evangelized by handing out tracts with the church address, and gained permission to support students within the local Federal University.  On the way, our bags were full with over 100 new bibles.

It was a tiring week, but strewn with fellowship and many blessings!

About ben

Ben Batchelder has traveled some of the world's most remote roads. Nothing in his background, from a degree in Visual & Environmental Studies at Harvard to an MBA from Wharton, adequately prepared him for the experiences. Yet he persists, for through such journeys life unfolds. Having published four books that map the inner and exterior geographies of meaningful travel, he is a mountain man in Minas Gerais, Brazil who comes down to the sea at Miami Beach, Florida. His second travel yarn, To Belém & Back, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. For more, visit www.benbatchelder.com.
